Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions travelers ask most about airline fees, taxes, and using this calculator.

Do airlines charge baggage fees each way?

Often yes. A baggage fee may apply again on the return flight. Check the airline terms and enter the full trip amount — both directions combined — so your true total reflects the complete journey, not just one leg.

Are airport taxes included in advertised fares?

It depends on how the fare is displayed. Some airlines show a fully bundled price, while others list government and airport charges separately during checkout. Review the booking breakdown on the airline's site and add any mandatory charge not already included in the advertised fare.

Can I use this calculator for a round trip?

Yes. Enter the full base fare and the combined fees for both directions. If baggage or seat selection fees apply separately on the outbound and return flights, add them together so the calculator reflects the complete round-trip cost.

Why can the cheapest advertised flight cost more overall?

A low headline fare may exclude carry-on bags, checked luggage, or seat selection. Once those add-ons are included, a slightly higher advertised fare with more inclusions can sometimes end up cheaper. Comparing the complete total — rather than the advertised price alone — gives you a fairer side-by-side comparison.

What counts as a "seat selection fee"?

Any charge the airline adds for picking a specific seat — standard, preferred, or extra-legroom. If seat selection is optional and you're comfortable with whatever the airline assigns at check-in, you can leave this field at zero.

Does this calculator store my data?

No. We never store the numbers you enter on our servers. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere — each calculation stays private to your session.

How accurate is the estimated total?

The total is exactly as accurate as the numbers you enter. Airline fees change frequently and vary by route, fare class, and loyalty status, so always confirm the final price on the official airline website before purchasing.
